Kurt was born near Tokyo and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After earning a BA degree from California State University, Northridge in Television Broadcasting, he worked as a script coordinator on such shows as The X-Files, Smallville, Hercules and Xena.
After 14 years working in network television, Kurt switched careers; enrolling in UCLA’s prestigious Interior Architecture graduate program.
While attending UCLA full-time, Kurt worked as a project manager for a design/build firm and as an design associate for a residential/hospitality designer. Kurt graduated from UCLA with honors, and soon after established Kurt Langenhahn Designs.
From 2015-2019, Kurt was cast as the featured designer on three episodes of HGTV’s House Hunters Renovation. All three designs were delivered on time and budget.
Believing that interior design is first about function, then aesthetics, KLD gains a complete understanding of the way the clients live, before creating a design plan.
Knowing the history of design and architectural styles before designing new or making changes to an existing space, is an integral part of KLD’s design philosophy.

For KLD, color selection, surface materials and interior furnishings are our specialty. We provide full services for paint and special wall finishes, furnishings (custom, showroom and retail), lighting, fabric, window treatments, flooring, hardware, fixtures, appliances, millwork, art and accessories. Our trades can also provide custom woodwork, metal, glass and other unique finishes.
KLD can develop and execute floor plans, elevations, shop drawings, renderings and sketches. We also provide full construction documents and work alongside our contractors and engineers for city permits and approvals. We provide interior as well as exterior drawings and site/plot plans.
