Kurt was born near Tokyo and grew up in the San Francisco Bay Area. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree from California State University, Northridge in Television Broadcasting, he worked as a script coordinator on such shows as The X-Files, Smallville, Hercules and Xena.

After 14 years working in network television, Kurt switched careers; enrolling in UCLA’s prestigious Interior Architecture graduate program.

While attending UCLA full-time, Kurt worked as a project manager for a design/build architecture firm and as an associate for a residential/hospitality designer. Kurt graduated from UCLA with honors, and soon after established Kurt Langenhahn Designs.  In 2016 Kurt was cast as the featured designer for two episodes of HGTV’s House Hunters Renovation.  Both designs were successful combinations of styles that left the clients, producers and audience wanting more.

Believing that interior design is first about function, then aesthetics, KLD gains a complete understanding of the way its clients live, before creating a design plan.

Knowing the history of design and architectural styles and periods before designing new or making changes to an existing space, is an integral part of KLD’s design philosophy.

Kurt Langenhahn Designs works strictly with honest, long-standing, talented, sub-contractors and vendors. KLD maintains the highest levels of integrity and ethics while creating safe, comfortable, beautiful spaces.
